Tagged as a beautiful paradise and being known as top tourists destination invite everyone to spend an unforgettable get away. Thus, everything that the island could give lead locals and even wanderers to environmental violations which results to its closure for a rehabilitation.
The excitement of every day, parties at night became a dull moment in the island for several months which as well made locals and entrepreneurs lose their source of income for a massive clean-up. Luckily, a successful rehabilitation brings back the beauty of the island and is now open to all.

Excited to experience the finest white sand, ocean waves, along with the beautiful sunset of the newly rehabilitated island of Boracay?
Boracay Island is finally open to tourists last October 2018. Along with its changes comes with a new set of guidelines that we need to follow to maintain its beauty. 😉

HOW TO GET THERE?
There are two alternative routes bound to Boracay when you depart from Cebu. You can choose from Cebu-Kalibo-Caticlan or fly directly from Cebu-Caticlan.

I have chosen an 11pm flight from Cebu-Kalibo since there's no other time and destination available for a lesser promo. We arrived in Kalibo International Airport (KIA) around 12 dawn and hired a van bound to Caticlan Jetty Port.

from KIA-Caticlan Jetty Port:
🚆 ride a van outside the airport together with the other passengers with the same route.
🗒 upon arrival, bare with you the hotel confirmation letter printed out and give to the personnel when ask.
💸 to proceed, you need to pay the following:

Miscellaneous Rate/head
Environmental fee 75/head
Terminal Fee 100/head
Van for hire 200/head

then head for a 5-minute ferry travel bound to Caticlan Jetty Port.

FROM KALIBO finally touches down to CATICLAN.
Take another ride from Caticlan Jetty Port to Boracay Island through:
🚆 ride an etrike bound to your hotel (20/head). If you're going solo, you'll be force to pay a group price of (120)

WHAT TO DO IN BORACAY?
There are lots of activities approved by the LGU's of Malay; these includes:
Helmet Diving

Not a good swimmer? Don’t worry! Engaged yourself with this activity where there is no swimming skills
required.  This is one of the most popular activity in Boracay . Hence, before doing the latter, the personnel will make sure if you are not having any heart problems and or high blood pressure since there will be  diving tank to support your breathing under water. The pressure it gives to your health is not tolerable. If you’re lucky enough for not having such health problems, then this activity is for you too. 😉 After a brief orientation, the exciting aquatic activity takes place.

To go under water, the fishbowl helmet must be held with your hands to support your breath for a 30 minutes underwater adventure.
I was very excited to finally experience how it feels to engage in helmet diving activity, but li’l bit scared of how it might work beneath. Luckily, I enjoyed it very much to swim together with the colorful fishes underneath the magical ocean. When there’s no time limit after all? Honestly, I don’t want to go up. 😅

and here's the video:

Parasailing

After the under water activity, indulge yourself and soar above to experience a 15minute ride in the sky. Thrill-seeker? Then, this fun sky activity is for ya! Capture the view of the blue sea from above while pulled by your speedboat. I was just thinking that this kind of activity is as ordinary as riding a Ferris wheel. Unexpectedly, it was a different and extraordinary experience being flown above able to see the beautiful raging ocean making most of the time talking something romantic with your love of your life as the wind blows both of you up in the sky farther. The experience is beyond perfect. You must try this once in a lifetime activity.

Fear of heights and do have cardiovascular problems? Naahhh! don't worry, I got your back wanderer! 😉 Aside from the activities mentioned above, you can also rent a paddle board and enjoy the rest of the moment.

and here's the video:

  • Stand-up Paddle

Discover yourself on how good your balancing skills is. Enjoy this water activity while waiting for the sun to set and capture a very nice view of it. Sunsets are very much awaited by everyone in the island.

Aside from those water fun-filled activities, ride an etrike and head to Puka Shell Beach.

Shell beach beause the sand is naturally produced  by shells and as you walk along the shoreline all you can feel in your feet is the prickled seashells. Located along the  station 1 of the island that takes 15-minutes ride. Savor its irreplaceable breathtaking view. 👌

Accommodation is quiet expensive in Boracay especially if you are wandering on peak season; Christmas Holidays, New Year, Chinese New Year and summer. Prices of typical 3-star hotel ranges from 6,000-8000/night. Thus, finding a cheaper hotel in Boracay can be a daunting challenge, especially when you are on a tight budget.

During our 3 days stay in Boracay, we stayed in Villa Simprosa Resort. Aside from a cheaper rate, they are located in the beach front and is accessible to different restaurants and souvenir stores.
